Music at Würth

Music at Würth

Classical concerts, an open-air festival and numerous performances by renowned bands: that's music at Würth. Fans of classical music can look forward to performances by the Würth Philharmonic Orchestra and its renowned guests. Fans of pop and rock music can experience world stars such as Sting or current chart toppers such as Clueso live at the Würth Open Air. Children's, school and family concerts bring age-appropriate music and drama to the stage. There are also events that do not fit into any particular category, such as the Würth Foundation's Music Festival - a festival of a very special kind.

Concerts in the Carmen Würth Forum

In 2019, Anne-Sophie Mutter congenially set the final accent of the second classical season at the Carmen Würth Forum with Mozart. In 2023, she once again delighted an enthusiastic audience.

Concerts in the Carmen Würth Forum

The Carmen Würth Forum is not only a venue for conferences, congresses, trade fairs and symposiums, but also, since it was opened in the summer of 2017, it has become a rapidly accepted venue for performing all styles and forms of music.

This has been exactly in line with the ideas of its initiator, Reinhold Würth who, together with his wife, has trusted for a long time in the strength of music to overcome cultural, social and language barriers to allow universal common features to emerge.

As befits a chamber music hall, the exquisite wood-panelled Reinhold Würth hall in the Carmen Würth Forum has the classic time-tried shape of a shoe box going down steeply at first from the entrance level and then sloping less steeply down to the stage. This means that what is happening on the stage can be followed easily from all seats both acoustically and optically.

Stars like Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov, Sol Gabetta, Anne Sophie Mutter, Bryn Terfel, and Rudolf Buchbinder, or orchestras like the Saxony State Orchestra Dresden, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Salzburg Camerata or the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra feel honoured to play here. But mainly the hall is home to the players in the Würth Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Reinhold Würth Music Foundation gGmbH

The Reinhold Würth Music Foundation gGmbH has its roots in the conviction of its founder Reinhold Würth that promoting musical understanding among broad sectors of the population plays an important role in contributing to understanding among nations as well as improving social skills among children and young people. Furthermore it can contribute to the development of creative skills as well as promote the understanding of the diversity and importance of music as an essential element in our cultural identity. Therefore not only outstanding musical performances will receive support, but also initiatives which allow very talented musicians to reveal the inner values of music to other people irrespective of their social or ethnic origin.

In order to be able to realise the objectives of the foundation, the Reinhold Würth Music Foundation gGmbH will be focussing its efforts on music events and concert tours with the Würth Philharmonic Orchestra, the promotion of other musical projects – such as concerts, workshops and competitions for young talents – as well as the acquisition and preservation of historically important musical instruments, which will be temporarily entrusted to highly talented musicians.

With its international players, the spatial sound produced by the Würth Philharmonic Orchestra makes it the meaningful flagship of the Reinhold Würth Music Foundation gGmbH.

Würth Prize for Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland

Since 1991 there has been already very close cooperation between the Würth Foundation and the Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland (JMD) which has its base in Schloss Weikersheim. From general support for ‘Germany’s Musical Youth’, the German section of the international umbrella organisation of the Fédération Internationale des Jeunesses Musicales (FIJM), close cooperation has developed between the general secretaries of the JMD and Reinhold Würth which has resulted in the creation of the Würth Prize for the Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland. Since then, in consultation with the German Music Council, every year the JMD jointly with the Würth Foundation honour individuals, ensembles and projects who have realized the aims set by the JMD in a special way and thus have stimulated and inspired others.

Also as part of the Hohenlohe Cultural Summer, the Würth Foundation awards the Reinhold Würth Prize at the international Violin Competition which is intended for young musicians of outstanding potential from all nations up to the end of their 21st. year.

Würth Open Air – A Whole Weekend of Music

Ideal festival atmosphere at the Würth Open Air, 2019

Würth Open Air – A whole weekend of music

Since 1997 the summer Würth Open Air event has been attracting thousands of visitors every year. Traditionally, the festival is opened with a gala classic concert with the international orchestra Philharmonie der Nationen conducted by Justus Frantz on Friday evening. Since its beginnings in 2017, the Würth Philharmonic has provided the accompaniment for various guest stars at this ‘Summer Concert’. And during the following two days it carries on with attractive live acts including famous artists known all over Germany such as Revolverheld, Udo Lindenberg or the Fantastischen Vier as well as world stars like Gianna Nannini, Gary Moore or Sting. And although the grounds round the Carmen Würth Forum have enough space for 10,000 visitors, the Würth Open Air is often sold out months in advance.

Würth Foundation Music Festival - the festival of a special kind

“Happytones” is the name of the band from Lebenshilfe Buchen, which played mainly pop and folk music at the Würth Foundation's music festival in 2019.

Music connects: The music festival of the Würth Foundation

This very popular festival was initiated by Carmen Würth in 2013 for people with disabilities, but here the main focus is on a joint togetherness of people with and without disabilities. This music festival is hosted by the Würth Foundation every two years and here it is the pleasure in making music together and enjoyment in music that is in the foreground.

Concerts for Children and Families

Sergei Prokofiev's popular musical fairytale classic “Peter and the Wolf” was on the program at the 2019 Würth Philharmonic Orchestra family concert under the direction of Elisabeth Fuchs.

Concerts for children and families

There are also Würth concerts arranged for kindergartens and primary schools. For many children their first contact with classical music is with fairy tale operas like Hänsel und Gretel or the Karneval der Tiere. In child-friendly concerts the children are playfully introduced to the music, the instruments and the respective contents and can find out for themselves just how much fun it can be when the triangles, French horn or the big drums ring out loudly. Family concerts are also among the events which parents and children really enjoy.
